Join us for a free, informative and practical two-hour workshop exploring how to make successful waterwise wicking beds.

Discover a self-contained, raised-bed food growing solution - whether you're renting, have limited space, have grass or trees competing with your garden, or if you are just tired of constant watering!

The difference with wicking beds is the built-in reservoir which supplies water from the bottom up, getting moisture straight to the roots, where plants really need it, thus reducing evaporation. We’ll also cover other secrets to veg growing success.

This workshop will be held at the Margaret River Community Garden and facilitated by Laura Bailey from Margaret River Organic Farmer, who has been experimenting with wicking beds for years.

Nature Conservation Margaret River Region staff will also be on-hand to answer your questions about waterwise, verge and native gardens.

The workshop will include an hour of theory at the Margaret River Community Garden hall followed by a practical sessions covering construction of a barrel wicking bed.

Please note: this event is free but spots are limited, so registrations are essential. If you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible so your spot can go to another gardener. Participants must wear close-toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and bring a hat and full water bottle. This event is intended for adults as the workshop includes a one-hour theory session, unsuitable for young children.
