Event description

Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon

  1. Learn the basics of Wikipedia.
  2. Learn how to make edits to Wikipedia pages.
  3. Learn how to edit and make new entries to Wikipedia.

An edit-a-thon (alternatively spelled "editathon") is one or more events in which people work together in person or online to build content on a wiki.  During this session, you will have the opportunity to add your own references to pages, all while having an expert Wiki Editor on hand to answer your questions.  Edit-a-thons improve the encyclopedia and can be a great way to help new Wikipedians learn to edit.   As part of Library and Information Week – ‘Where’s the Source?’, the Campbelltown Public Library is partnering with Wikimedia, to conduct a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon.  In this 2-hour session, you will be shown the basics of Wikipedia and how to make edits to Wikipedia pages. Join us for an interactive workshop where you can learn to edit and make new entries to Wikipedia. You will have the opportunity to add your own references to pages, all while having an expert Wiki Editor on hand to answer all your questions.
