Sailing is to the wind, as writing is to self-expression. Just as sailors harness the wind to move boats through the water, we writers can consciously invoke the muse and set sail into the creative, channeling our creative energy to move our thoughts and emotions into and through our world. 

Creative expression requests of us a deep connection to the present moment. As we sail, we experience deep states of relaxation naturally induced by the effects of the waves, wind, blue water, and salt air, grounding us in the present moment and quieting the noise of everyday life. This state of natural mindfulness and present-moment awareness opens up space for creativity to flourish. Showing up, sitting quietly and “allowing” makes easy “work” of writing. Our creative self-expression thrives when we fully engage with our inner and outer worlds, attuning to our emotions, experiences, and nature. This is the creative blessing of nature and sailing.  

Sailing is almost magical in the way it awakens our senses and cultivates a profound presence. Our mental clarity is magnified, we are flushed with feel-good hormones and our nervous systems calm and align with the flow of natural beauty of our surroundings. From this state of deep connection, the Wild Heart Writing Process takes us on a deep dive into our creative depths, letting our hearts guide and move us easily into flow – where words emerge unbound by rules or judgment. 

 

The Wild Heart Writing Process is designed for both novice writers and seasoned writers alike. With just a pen and paper, and your spirit of adventure, this retreat offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and your own creative spirit, making it a unique and  transformative experience. All that’s required is pen, paper and a willingness to listen and play. You can touch the depths or glide across the surface. There is no right or wrong way.
