    Event description

Wild brewing is a simple yet fascinating process that utilises naturally present yeasts and spontaneous fermentation to create both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Join Tim as he shares his passion for brewing creative drinks using local and wild foraged ingredients including, raw honey, native blossoms, green pine cones, and various botanicals to brew up fizzy, probiotic sodas that are both delicious and improve gut health

    Tim will cover:

    • Capturing wild yeasts and maintaining starter cultures
    • How to forage ethically and safely, and we’ll do some in the City Farm garden
    • Creating unique flavour bases using seasonal, store-bought or wild foraged ingredients
    • Brewing up and serving your own delicious alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at home
    • Equipment and materials required

Tim will bring tasters of his current brews along with some homemade snacks to accompany. You’ll leave with recipes and sufficient knowledge to take up this fun and creative hobby for yourself. Bring along a clean jar or bottle and you can take home your own wild starter culture on the day.

    Meet Tim

Tim Greaves has 24 years of experience as a chef in Australia and the U.K., focused on European and Modern Australian Fine Dining. These days he focuses on sharing his skills as a teacher and running his hot sauce business 'Foraged Fire.' Tim is passionate about sustainability, minimising waste and sourcing and eating locally and an obsessive forager, fermenter and home gardener.

Our weekly farmer's market will be in full swing during your workshop, so it's worth arriving a little early to check out the stalls and maybe buy some fresh produce.

Perth City Farm is a community urban farm that supports connected, sustainable communities. Established on a former industrial site in East Perth, this polluted site has been lovingly rehabilitated by volunteers to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement. We provide space and opportunities to build community connections, and educate and enable people to live sustainably.
