Wild clay ceramic workshop
Event description
Name: Wild clay ceramic workshop
Price: $145
Duration: 11am - 3pm
Date: 17th August 2024
Location: the OM movement yoga studio, Hornsby
Join us for a grounding and informative day of learning about and working with wild clay through this hand-building workshop. We will be working with wild-harvested clay hand-collected from Darug and Gurringai lands.
We will start the day with a grounding, mindfulness meditation, before moving into our creative practice. This workshop warmly welcomes beginners, and all materials are thoughtfully provided.
Throughout this workshop, we will explore wild clay harvesting and processing techniques as well as deeply exploring hand-building techniques of pinching, slab building and coiling to create your very own mug, bowl, platter, or other form of your choice.
There will be the opportunity to incorporate local materials and other wild clays into your designs through surface decoration techniques to infuse the raw earth and the energy of mother nature into your sacred vessel.
Once your masterpiece is complete, we'll handle the rest — drying, glazing, firing, and shipping your creation to you within 8-10 weeks. Choose from a curated selection of glazes to add that perfect finishing touch to your unique piece.
Beyond the creative process, this workshop is an opportunity to connect and engage with like-minded individuals, ask questions, and share the joy of bringing art to life. Join us for a day where mindfulness meets craftsmanship and your journey with clay becomes a vessel for deepening your connection with nature.
