    Event description

“If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it.” – David Sobel

Connect with your child, community and nature in this relaxed playgroup, facilitated by *Dee Jones in an urban bush environment alongside Edgar’s creek.

Slow down, take notice and jump in as you both engage with curiosity in the wonders of the natural world. You will create nature art, plant seeds, make bush cubbies, jump in muddy puddles, discover local plants and minibeasts and do lots of nature exploration! Each week’s offering includes a balance of stories, song, sensory activities and unstructured play.

Held outside in (almost) any weather, this weekly gathering is an adventure through the Kulin seasons. You and your children will feel enriched, empowered with confidence and full of gratitude for the land and community.

    *Dee Jones

Dee finds inspiration in nature. It was this love of nature that lead her combine her environmental education, facilitation skills and her arts practice to share this passion and connection with others - particularly children and families as a Nature Playgroup Facilitator.

Inspired by Joanna Macy's The Work that Reconnects and local nature practitioner, Claire Dunn,  Dee sees this role as a means to connect local communities more deeply with their local environment leading to motivation to protect it. Dee has a strong affinity to her local creek in Narrm (Melbourne) on Wurundjeri Country and is also particularly interested in finding ways to honour and acknowledge the Wurundjeri people's long-standing connection and care for this country.

Dee provides a warm and inclusive space to build a heart connection to nature and community through play, experiential learning and exploration. She believes empowering children in the formative years is instrumental in creating a sustainable future and wellbeing for all.
