Wild edible gardens are beautiful, diverse and abundant habitats that connect us to an ancient way of being, in harmony with nature’s rhythms. The role of the gardener is one of intuition, reflection and nurturing, with moments given to tending here and there. Turn your patch into a low-work thriving, vibrant ecosystem that gives year-round harvests!

In this workshop, Leila from Barefoot Food Gardens will teach simple techniques to transform your space into an edible wonderland, including:
• The philosophy of wild gardening or forest gardening
• Practical gardening skills and tips
• Ecosystem dynamics in gardens and soil
• Easy no-dig techniques to build healthy soil
• Plants for food and medicine: fruit trees, berries, vines, vegetables, herbs, flowers, natives and weeds
• Plants for soil health, mulch and bees and biodiversity
• Ways to eat and cook unusual and medicinal foods

Please note that this is an event for Naarm/Melbourne gardeners only. If you live outside this area, please contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally.

If you have any access or support questions or requirements in order to participate fully (eg. interpreter), please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you.
