These are the business owner experiences Dr Leanne Faulkner has spent the last 13 years studying. Leanne was the original founder of Australian skincare brand, Billie Goat Soap. The mental health challenges she experienced growing a small business led her to work as a small business mental health advocate, identifying the unique demands placed on people who own and lead a small business.

She’s championed many of the national mental health support services now established to help the small business sector, however, the question remains:

If we have all these wonderful free support services, why are small business owners and leaders still stressed?

Leanne’s PhD research focused on answering that question. In addition, Leanne uncovered a strategy unique to business owners and leaders to help them lower their incidence of workplace stress and do their work on their own terms.
