Join Megan Ruby Lee for a hands-on introduction to linocut printmaking, celebrating the rich beauty and intricate detail of the natural world at the Barung Landcare Seed Forest.

This beginner-friendly workshop will focus on native plants and wildlife found in the beautiful Barung Seed Forest in North Maleny, which will provide the inspiration for your designs.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, Megan will guide you through:

• Observing and sketching natural forms, and translating textures and patterns into linocut designs

• Learning the fundamentals of linocut printmaking — from carving and inking to hand-printing using a variety of papers and tools

• Creating your own unique, nature-inspired prints to take home — ready to frame or gift

You’ll also leave with your carved lino block, so you can continue printing beyond the workshop, along with the prints you create during the session.

Whether you're completely new to printmaking or looking to deepen your creative connection with nature, this workshop offers a relaxed and supportive space to slow down, learn new skills, and engage with the beauty of the local environment.

When: Saturday 18 April, 9.30am – 3.00pm
Where: Barung Landcare Nursery, Parkland Drive North Maleny

What to bring:

An apron or clothing you don’t mind getting ink on (please note: ink may stain permanently)

Lunch, snacks, and drinking water

Tea, coffee, and light refreshments will be provided. Please advise any dietary requirements when booking.

All materials and tools are included.

About Megan Ruby Lee

Megan is a Sunshine Coast–based artist working on Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi Country. She has been printmaking since she was 14, creating detailed linocut works inspired by Australia’s native flora, fauna, and landscapes. Her practice is grounded in a deep respect for the natural world, with a focus on fostering greater appreciation and care for its diversity.
