Event description

Date: February 9
Time: 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Location: Montana Natural History Center

Free-flowing rivers have long inspired both visitors to and residents of western Montana. Join us as we welcome Lisa Ronald, Western Montana Associate Conservation Director with American Rivers.

Through stories that weave together people, events, and perspectives, Lisa will share information about Wild and Scenic Rivers, from their roots in the dam-building era to applications today around Missoula. Formed in 1973, American Rivers is a national organization that protects wild rivers, restores damaged rivers, and ensures clean water for communities across the country.

Lisa has lived in Missoula since 1996 and became a whitewater kayaker seven years ago. In addition to her local river protection work with American Rivers, she also leads the Wild and Scenic Rivers Coalition, an alliance of more than 60 river groups nationwide. For nearly 20 years, she worked in environmental education at the University of Montana’s Wilderness Institute where she continues to lead student river trips.
