Event description

Wild Wanderings is a series of nature journaling walks designed to help you connect with—and immerse in—our local environment.

Held in the beautiful Birdsland Reserve and led by local artists and experts in native ecosystems, each walk uses art and knowledge as a catalyst to slow down and deeply engage with nature.

By mindfully documenting your personal observations of the natural world, and by taking part in activities that will engage the senses (walking, observing, drawing, listening, touching…), get ready to experience the Dandenong Ranges like never before!

MEET YOUR GUIDES

Liberty Finn is a mixed media painter whose colourful work explores ideas about pattern and simplification of form. She draws and paints the landscapes of the Dandenong Ranges, layering acrylic, marker, crayon and oil paint. Her ceramics are an extension of her drawing practice and display the same preference for organic shapes and expressive colour.

Amy Weir is a qualified ecologist and environmental scientist with many years experience in community environmental engagement teaching both adults and children. Amy is a qualified Permaculture Teacher and has also studied climate change. Amy loves all things gardening, homesteading and chicken and most of all loves to share the skills and understanding required for a sustainable future. Amy's property and small business name is Cloudy Forest Farm.

What is nature journaling?
Nature Journaling is the practice of drawing or writing in response to nature, collecting and organising your observations, questions, connections, and explanations on the pages of a notebook, using words and pictures.

You do not need to be an artist or a scientist to begin a nature journaling practice. Simply slow down, pay attention, and use all your senses to connect with the natural world.
