Session Four — Maintain: Hacks for Keeping It All Going and Growing

Habitat doesn’t end at planting — it grows through care, connection, and community.

The final session of Wilder by Design: Hacks for Habitat focuses on what happens after plants are in the ground. In Session Four, Master Naturalist Anna Graether shares practical strategies for sustaining and strengthening your habitat over time—without relying on harmful chemicals or perfection-driven maintenance.

This session supports participants in moving from short-term projects to long-term stewardship, emphasizing approaches that nurture both ecological health and positive relationships with neighbors and community.

What You’ll Learn

• How to source or propagate native plants ethically and affordably

• Non-toxic, ecologically sound methods for maintaining planting areas

• Strategies for gaining neighbor and community buy-in

• Ways to participate in Citizen Science and contribute to larger conservation efforts

Participants will leave with tools to care for their habitat through the seasons—while building confidence, resilience, and connection beyond their own yard.

About the Presenter

Anna Graether is a Johnson County Extension Master Naturalist, Board Member of The Resilient Activist, and Nature Advisor with Deep Roots KC. She brings a thoughtful, inclusive approach to habitat stewardship that honors both ecological systems and human relationships.

• A $10 donation per session is suggested
