Wilderness Field Sketching
Event description
Join us to practice and push your observational drawing skills, rendering local flora, geology, and vistas!
This is a moderate activity - less than 5 miles of walking, multiple hours outdoors in the elements.
Aidan Koch is an artist and graphic novelist based in Landers, California. Her work is focused on ecological storytelling. Koch has exhibited across the United States and Europe, and her most recent book, Spiral and Other Stories, was published in 2024 by New York Review Comics.

In this workshop, you will practice various forms of observational drawing through timed exercises, explore the fundamentals and tools of drawing on the go, and engage in drawing as a method of ecological knowledge building.
Participants must bring the following items for the course: a sketchbook, loose paper, preferred drawing utensils (e.g., pencils, colored pencils, pens, ink and brush, watercolors, pastels), and an optional folding stool or seat as needed for comfort.
