Wilding - a biodiversity film screening at Lewers: Penrith Regional Gallery

Come along to a magical screening of the film Wilding at the beautiful Penrith Regional Gallery, Lewers! Join the Sustainability and Resilience Team as we celebrate biodiversity and regeneration of nature with a story about rewilding and biodiversity.

🎬Based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book by the same title, Wilding tells the story of a young couple that bets on nature for the future of their failing, four-hundred-year-old estate in West Essex, England. The young couple battles entrenched tradition, and dares to place the fate of their farm in the hands of nature. Ripping down the fences, they set the land back to the wild and entrust its recovery to a motley mix of animals both tame and wild. It is the beginning of a grand experiment that will become one of the most significant rewilding experiments in Europe.

6:30pm Arrive, purchase yourself some food, drinks, check out the the Ngalawan exhibition and settle in!

7:30pm Introduction to the film by Sustainability and Resilience Team

Please arrive well before 7:30pm to limit interruptions. Film duration is 1hour and 15minutes.

Ngalawan - We Live, We Remain

Arrive early at the Penrith Regional Gallery to explore senior Dharug Artist, Leanne Tobin's, exhibition "Ngalawan."

Key works from public and private collections, as well as newly commissioned works, turn the lens on what has long been obscured: the continuity of Dharug culture, the truth of what happened on this Country, and the determined work of reclaiming it. Ngalawan is an emphatic declaration of Dharug cultural practice, here in outer Western Sydney. 

From early community-led mural projects and portraiture, to award-winning paintings and her iconic eel sculptures, these works are seen together for the first time in a wide-ranging exhibition that encompasses the Main Gallery and Lewers House Gallery.

Accessibility

Street Access
The Gallery has two main entrances. The main entrance is a paved ramp from the street leading into the café courtyard. There is also entrance through the carpark.

Wheelchair Accessibility
Ramps and walkways have been added to provide access to all gallery spaces and viewing areas of the surrounding gardens. Some areas of the garden and car park have unlevel rough terrain.

Accessible Parking
Two accessible parking spaces are available in the onsite carpark. The driveway is located on River Road at the southern corner of the site. Follow the driveway around to the right-hand corner, closest to the Gallery.

Accessible Toilets
An accessible toilet is available.
