Bushfire Assistance for Wildlife Crafternoon
Description
The RiverConnect partnership has partnered with the Animal Rescue Craft Group - Goulburn Valley, Goulburn Murray Landcare Network and Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project to host a Crafternoon to create much needed pouches, bags, nests and possum dreys, to be sent to wildlife carers in bushfire affected areas. The Crafternoon will be held during the school holidays on Wednesday 21st January at the KidsTown Munch n Crunch rooms. Members of the community, families and children are invited to bring any old cotton or flannelette sheets, doona covers, pillowcases or wool to turn them into a pouch for wildlife.
Call out for experienced sewers, knitters, and crocheters to join the day and those interested in helping out. Bring your sewing machine along, as well as crocheting hooks or knitting needles. For those with limited experience will have tasks available such as preparing fabric for sewing and people will be on hand who can teach you how to sew or knit. Children will be invited to put a message on their pouch for wildlife and carers.
Drop in anytime throughout the afternoon, patterns provided.
Kirsty Ramadan from Bohollow Wildlife Shelter along with wildlife carer Kylie Hoskin will be dropping during the afternoon with some furry friends from the shelter for volunteers to meet.
Please RSVP and let us know if you have equipment or materials you can bring so that we can coordinate space, machines and materials!
