Description

A FREE community event featuring a public screening of the acclaimed documentary Night Calling, followed by a Q&A panel session with expert environmental speakers.

The evening aims to inspire local residents to make simple changes that help Bunbury’s native wildlife thrive in their own backyards. Displays from local wildlife organisations and a light supper will round out a relaxed, family-friendly night of learning and connection.

The event is being supported with a City of Bunbury Habitat Bunbury Program grant.

Speakers

  • Dr Boyd Wykes - Star of the documentary and Coordinator of Owl Friendly Margaret River.

  • Dr Simone Vitali - Program Manager - Emergencies Wildlife Health Australia.

  • Dr Robert Davis - Wildlife ecologist (Head of Edith Cowan University ECU Joondalup fauna research lab including co-ordinating studies on rodenticide impacts on wildlife)

  • Dr Manda Page - South West NRM CEO and former director of Threatened Species Management Queensland Government.

Live entertainment by Beth Chia

South West musician Beth Chia will play live following the screening and panel speakers as guests enjoy refreshments. Beth is kindly donating her time to the event and helping to promote the work of South West NRM at her regular local gigs across the region. With her guitar, vocals and songwriting she blends ethereal and edgey for her unique blend of blues and roots. Beth has supported Ash Grunwald twice, Bondi Cigars, Jo Camilleri and The Black Sorrows, Blue Shaddy, (soon) and Abbe May.

Follow-up Event

As part of a shared commitment to strengthening biodiversity awareness in the community, this event will be followed-up by a three-part Wildlife Stewardship Event series by Leschenault Catchment Council between March and July.
