WILDLIFE OF THE NIGHT
Event description
Nocturnal wildlife come alive and you can enjoy looking for possums scurrying up tree trunks, owls staring back at you, microbats flitting from tree to tree, Grey-Headed Flying-foxes flying overhead to forage for the night. Your experience will enhance your view of wildlife at night time. This tour covers approx 2 klms at a leisurely pace and if you are unable to walk that length, you can leave the tour at any time.
The evening is a perfect opportunity to ask questions about both species of possums and enhance skills required for the Reunite Possum program, particularly spotting possums high in the trees at night and identifying their sex from a distance, which is crucial for locating females. You will have the opportunity to differentiate between ringtail and brushtail possums, view a reunite and release site, view a ringtail's drey and observe a joey riding on its mother's back. This is a perfect tour for children of all ages, and those who are limited with mobility can be accommodated by shortening the walking time. We walk along the path which wheelchairs are able to navigate. If you have red light head lamps or torches, bring along with you. Please contact us for more information. Arrive at 6.45 as it is a 7pm start.
