Wildlife Photography Workshop at Herdsman Lake
Description
Some of Perth's best wildlife photography is happening in the middle of the suburbs.
Herdsman Lake is a wetland full of life, and with the right fieldcraft you can come away with images you'd expect to travel for. Join me for a relaxed, hands-on morning on the water's edge, where we'll slow down, watch and shoot.
This is the first ARKD wildlife workshop, so numbers are deliberately small. Everyone gets real time, not a crowd of people on a trail.
What we'll cover
Reading bird behaviour so you're in the right place before the moment happens
Approaching wildlife ethically, without stressing the animals or flushing the shot
Camera settings for fast, small, unpredictable subjects (autofocus, shutter speed, exposure in tricky light)
Using light and the golden hours of the day
Composition and backgrounds that make wildlife images look intentional
Q&A and live feedback on your shots in the field
Who it's for
Beginners through to intermediate photographers who want to get more out of their camera in the field. Any camera is welcome, whether that's a mirrorless, DSLR or a compact with a zoom. If you've never photographed wildlife before, this is a great place to start.
What to bring
Your camera and your longest lens (if you have one)
Spare batteries and memory cards
