Wildlife Spotlight: A.M Risers Coastal Adventure at Neal Preserve
Description
Experience Neal Preserve in the quiet glow of dawn during this early‑morning birding walk through its elevated boardwalks, mangrove edges, and archaeological landscape. As the sun rises over Anna Maria Sound, coastal species become active, offering ideal viewing conditions and a peaceful start to the day.
We’ll gather at 6:50 a.m. and conclude around 7:50 a.m. (with optional extension to 8:50 a.m. for larger groups or extended observation). The route follows Neal’s boardwalk loop and includes time at the observation tower, a perfect vantage point for spotting wading birds, raptors, and shoreline species beginning their morning routines.
This program includes:
Sunrise coastal bird activity across mangrove and estuary habitats
Boardwalk exploration with elevated views of tidal wetlands
Observation tower viewing overlooking Anna Maria Sound
Archaeological landscape insights highlighting Manatee County’s cultural history
Neal Preserve’s blend of natural and historical significance makes it an inspiring place to welcome the day and connect with the rhythms of our coastal wildlife.
