Wildlings Academy Phillip Island Monthly
Event description
Are you looking for homeschooling learning activities for your kids, that you could do in nature, and with a wide range of ages?
We are so pleased to announce our Monthly Phillip Island Homeschooling Outing!
Registrations for Term 3 are now open!
Term 3 is Spring Term - being outdoors offers the joy of noticing the rich changes in the season, providing a range of gorgeous mild days plus opportunities for puddle jumping and expanding our weather hardiness.
WHAT
Join us for a monthly adventure of learning about nature in an outdoor, learning environment. Our “Homeschooling Day in the Wild”
will harness the best bits of mixed-age education, fun, flexibility,
and top-notch facilitation to be hyper-inclusive and meet the needs of
the group. No child will be left out of the experience, no matter how
young, old or shy.
WHO
Having a wide range of ages has been tried
and tested as of immense benefit for children. These are nature based
sessions for all children aged 3 to 13 to join and learn together.
WHERE, WHEN, INVESTMENT
We will run for 3 hours from 11 am till 2 pm each Friday at Woolamai Surf Beach Parking offering classes each month this term for $50 per child per session.
If you have more than one child, we want to make it affordable for you to join so your second child can attend for $40 and your third for $30. If you have a large family please
contact us to see how you can be assisted to join (just click the
Contact Host button at the bottom of this page).
Siblings under 3
can join for free.
Please note that a small booking fee exists through
Humanitix and is donated to children charities.
The casual rate is as above per child per DAY if you only wish to come along once or a few times.
ADDITIONALLY : We also have a Term pass for 3 sessions that you can use whenever suits you for $140 (1st Child), $100 (2nd Child) and $60 (3rd Child).
Please note that by registering, you can come and go whenever you
like from 11 am till 2pm; however, there is a beginning, middle and end to the session, and as we will be moving and exploring through the landscape you will need to find us by texting the WhatsApp group set up for communication purposes.
WHAT WE WILL DO
Classes,
while being child-led, will uncover many different nature-based
teachings ranging from learning about all the creatures in the area both underwater and on land,
how they live and what they do. We will also engage our motor skills with
movement and colourful crafting, identifying plants and weeds, and
learning about how they help our natural systems. We will make maps, tie
knots, hunt bugs, find nature treasures, and be full of wonder! A strong focus
on the First Nation people and their connection to the country is also
woven into all teachings. We will also practice wrapping bandages and
what to do if people are in need of basic aid. This is all part of creating an
interconnected web of information that makes creative capable children.
Older children (age 5 and above) will be encouraged to document their
days in a scrapbook.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE
There is nothing else like this
on offer and it has been created out of a place of passion and
knowledge for the need of a drop-in type session for our
homeschooling community to have amazing learnings together! Therefore,
- Parents need to attend with their child(ren) and be 100% responsible for them. We love to build community.
- We will require you to sign a consent document that you are hiring the facilitator to be with you while we learn in nature.
- Art materials are all provided.
- Recommended/optional equipment you can bring could be your own bucket, tongs, binoculars, magnifying glasses.
We absolutely must have a minimum of 20 children aged 3-10 to make this session viable so if it is something you want to see happen, please reach out to your community.
