Will Richter Fundraiser Evening
Description
Will Richter Fundraiser Evening
Join us for a special evening in memory of Will Richter, raising funds for the William Richter SAGSE Scholarship.
Hosted by the University of Melbourne German Club and GASS (German Australian Students’ Society), this evening will bring together friends, family, students, alumni and the wider community for a night of generosity, connection and remembrance.
Will was a much-loved member of the German-Australian community: a University of Melbourne commerce student, Vice-President of the German Club, and a proud member of the 2023/24 SAGSE cohort. The SAGSE scholarship was a life-changing experience for him, and something he cared about deeply.
Why this evening matters
In February 2024, while on exchange, Will spoke at the Australian Embassy in Berlin about what that opportunity had meant to him. His words now sit at the heart of this evening:
“This opportunity we had is not something everyone gets, and for that I will always be grateful - in fact, we all will. And now I feel that it is our responsibility, through SAGSE, GDANSE and GASS, to keep improving and to give this opportunity to as many people as possible.”
That belief that this opportunity should be available to others too, is what this evening is about.
The William Richter SAGSE Scholarship was established in Will’s honour to help future students access the same kind of transformative cultural exchange that meant so much to him. All funds raised through this event will go directly toward supporting that scholarship.
