It is our pleasure to welcome winemaker Jonny Hughes to Willing Bros to present wines from his hughes & hughes label, served alongside passionately prepared dishes from our chef Matt Ody.
5-course seasonal dinner - matched with wine from the 2023 harvest.
Tasmanian oysters - hughes & hughes, Soiree
Charcuterie - hughes & hughes, Chardonnay
Raviolo - hughes & hughes, Pinot Noir
12-hour lamb - hughes & hughes, Dornfelder
Cannoli - hughes & hughes, Sweet Vermouth
Tickets are $150 per person, inclusive of food and wine.
Jonny and his brother Matt established Mewstone Vineyard in Flowerpot on the banks of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel in 2011. Jonny is the winemaker of the family and after studying in New Zealand, went on to work in wine regions all over the world including Langhorne Creek (South Australia), Central Otago (NZ), Mornington Peninsula (Victoria), Barolo (Italy), the Hunter Valley (New South Wales) and Okanagan Valley (Canada). Heading home to Tasmania, Jonny worked in various roles within the local wine industry, before settling in as the Assistant Winemaker at Moorilla in Hobart for seven years.
The hughes & hughes label is a venture that focuses on sourcing quality grapes from different vineyards throughout Tasmania, this diversification allows Jonny to get creative in his approach to winemaking while bringing together techniques that he has encountered from his world travels.
