Willmott Park Formative Orchard Pruning & Tree Care

Join Friends of Willmott Park for a hands-on introduction to formative orchard pruning. Led by Luke, this two-hour session focuses on the summer pruning of stone fruit trees and covers the basic principles of orchard tree care. We’ll begin with a 15-minute health and safety briefing before getting started, with opportunities to learn through practical experience.

Participants may also help with additional tasks such as dead hedging and litter picking. Please note that anyone under 16 must be accompanied and closely supervised by an adult.

Accessibility information

• Some of the route involves walking across grass and slightly uneven ground, as there is no hard‑surface path leading into the Orchard.

• The approach includes grass and uneven areas, which may be challenging for wheelchair users or anyone who needs a firm, level surface.

• The area is suitable for children, but all under‑16s must be accompanied for the entire session.

Travel information

Willmott Park Orchard is located toward the back of the South Section of Willmott Park. It’s a short walk from the surrounding entrances.

• Kilmersdon Drive

• Bishport Avenue (slightly further)
