Willow Park Mural Celebration
Description
A central purpose of the mural is to bring people together, a message reflected in the diverse range of speakers who will participate in this event:
Uncle David Dunn will deliver a Welcome to Country and share the story and meaning behind I Spy.
Representatives from the local police force will speak about the significance of Uncle David’s Indigenous designs featured on two local police vehicles.
Wodonga Council Events Officer, Karen Wallis‑Smythe, will introduce the Public Albury Wodonga Art Trail, which will now include the Willow Park mural.
Rachel Proctor, great‑granddaughter of the Heckendorf settlers, will reflect on shared responsibility for caring for Country and the opportunities this creates.

Uncle David Dunn
Uncle David Dunn is an artist, Elder, teacher and mentor from the Wiradjuri Nation. David’s Aboriginal name is Gaagang. David is an artist and teacher at the Petaurus Education Group, who is passionate about teaching youth about their connection to country. David has a colourful, vibrant and contemporary style of his own that comes through in his artwork of important trees, wildlife and his people’s stories. He paints from the heart and with his soul, using some of the traditional symbols his father and uncles taught him, mixed in with his own unique style.
