Wilson Beach House – a hidden treasure on Dicky Beach

Built in 1969 by John Railton, a key figure in Queensland architecture, this small timber holiday house is a rare example of regional Modernism in its original state. Designed as a “robust box” with everything—including car storage—inside a large open interior, it combines double-height beach-facing volumes with six striking double-hung windows, hopper vents, and louvre panels for natural ventilation.
