🍷 Wine 101: Understanding Wine & Food Pairing

A hands-on introduction to how wine really works.

Whether you’re brand new to wine or looking to sharpen your tasting skills, this class gives you the foundation every wine lover needs. We’ll explore the core elements of wine structure — sweetness, acidity, etc— and learn how each one shapes what you taste in the glass.

You’ll taste five distinct wines, each chosen to highlight a different structural profile. Along the way, we’ll break down what influences flavor: grape variety, climate, winemaking choices, and aging.

Then each wine will have a food pairing experiment. You’ll taste how wine reacts to salty, sweet, umami, bitter, acidic, and fatty foods — and discover why some pairings sing while others clash. This is the fastest, most memorable way to understand pairing rules (and when to break them).

By the end of class, you’ll know:

How to identify key structural elements in any wine
Why certain wines taste the way they do
How to confidently pair wine with food
How to avoid common pairing mistakes
How to choose wines you’ll actually love

This is a relaxed, sensory-forward workshop designed to make wine feel approachable and fun — no prior knowledge required. Light pairing bites will be offered with this class, NOT a full meal or heavy appetizers.
