Coming up is one of our most popular classes of the year, the Winter Herbal Tonics Class run by Melanie Muller, clinical naturopath and co-owner of The Simple Market.

Fire Cider is a great start on the journey in exploring plants and how they can be used to heal, prevent, or help regulate. 

This unique and delicious tonic is a blend of powerful herbs, spices, and fruits that are steeped in apple cider vinegar, making it the perfect way to boost your immune system, improve digestion, and warm you up from the inside out. Melanie will teach you everything you need to know about creating your own fire cider, including how to choose the best ingredients, how to prepare and blend them for maximum potency. As you sip and savour your homemade brew, you'll also learn about the fascinating history and folklore surrounding fire cider, from its roots in traditional folk medicine to its modern-day resurgence as a popular health and wellness tonic.

This Fire Cider workshop is made in collaboration with MANA Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, made with premium organic apples from Forest Range in the Adelaide Hills. It’s one of the most flavourful apple cider vinegar we’ve tried and we are proud to have this in our store. It’s raw, unfiltered and aged in French oak barrels.

At home, we enjoy fire cider if we are feeling like we’ve been burning the candle at both ends, or are run down. We like to have it as a shot, or you can mix in a bit of honey with it if it's too intense for you. Our favourite way is with some warm water as almost a spicy, intense tea (or like a Hot Toddy for those who have had one before).
