Description
Each school holidays, Kew Junction comes alive with hands-on workshops designed especially for kids.
The program features creative, interactive sessions delivered by a mix of local businesses and workshop providers, giving children the chance to learn something new, get creative, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment.
While the kids enjoy their workshop, parents can take a little time to explore the Junction — grab a coffee, run an errand, or enjoy a moment to themselves.
Workshops are kept intentionally small so every child has a great experience.

GOLF SKILLS & MULTI-SPORT GAMES | Mon 29 Jun | 1pm-3pm
Join Big Swing Golf for an active workshop where kids can develop their golf skills while enjoying a variety of fun ball games. Each session begins with golf instruction from an accredited coach, introducing players to the foundations of the game including grip, posture, stance and swing using real golf clubs. With small groups capped at just 10 participants, everyone receives positive coaching, encouragement and plenty of time to practise and improve. The session then continues with a range of energetic games such as soccer, basketball, zombie dodgeball and other ball challenges using real sporting equipment that keep participants active and engaged.
SENSORY PLAY: LITTLE BIRDS & NEST BUILDERS | Mon 29 Jun | 10am-12pm
Join the Science of Fun team on a delightful sensory adventure filled with feathers, nests and bright treasures! Inspired by the themes in Feathers for Phoebe, children will create their own bird nests using a mix of soft moss, colourful feathers, twigs, bark and sparkling treasures. Each child will design a miniature world within their nest, adding eggs, feathers and sensory details to give their bird a cosy home full of personality and flair. As part of the creative fun, children will also design and craft their own feathered bird mask, choosing colours, textures and patterns to reflect their inner bird’s boldness or beauty. The finished mask becomes both a fun costume piece and a special keepsake to take home.
GALAXY GOO: MAD SCIENCE | Mon 29 Jun | 1:30pm-3:30pm
Join the Science of Fun Team at this awesome workshop full of pure excitement for your little scientist. Kids perform their own hands-on experiments while learning basic science concepts. Erupt Jurassic volcanoes, power your own colourful lava lamp, play with rainbow polymers and create the new Galaxy Goo Foam Slime and much more. There's something for everyone!
PRE-SCHOOL BALLET | Tue 30 Jun | 10am-12pm
Boys & girls are cordially invited join the Kew School of Dance in a pre-school ballet class! This wonderful workshop encourages creativity, self-expression and individuality in an immersive world of dancing. Children are introduced to age appropriate movements that lay the foundation for further study in dance. Participants are encouraged to wear ballet shoes or bare feet, ballet leotard/skirt or any clothing they can freely move in. Don’t forget the sparkles and tutus!
BRICKS FOR KIDS: CLASSIC BRICK ARCADE LEGO® | Tue 30 Jun | 10am-12pm
Let's take it back to when it all started in the 1980’s and jump into the world of classic arcade and video games when you ate flashing dots, collected coins and rings and avoided getting killed by enemies. There were so many obstacles to overcome and levels to beat! That was the time of 8-bit and later 16-bit technology, which gave these old games their classic blocky appearance. With LEGO, children will build the famous plumber brothers, a brick eater, a jumping hedgehog, alien invaders and many more!
BROADWAY STARS: DANCE, SING & PERFORM | Tue 30 Jun | 1pm-3pm
Step into the spotlight with Kew School of Dance in this exciting Broadway inspired musical theatre workshop! Over two fun-filled hours, participants will learn a performance sequence inspired by a famous Broadway musical while combining dance, singing and acting in a supportive and creative environment. Participants will learn fun choreography while bringing musical theatre characters and stories to life through movement, music and performance. Whether you're trying musical theatre for the first time or already love to perform, all experience levels are welcome.
SPARKLE & SHINE: JEWELLERY MAKING WORKSHOP | Wed 01 Jul | 10am-12pm
With a wide array of stunning beads and findings to choose from, it’s a fantastic opportunity to craft personalised creations while learning valuable jewellery-making skills. Let your imagination run wild as you design pieces that will look amazing and stand the test of time. Plus, you might make some new friends along the way! With party music playing, this workshop is perfect for those who love to make, create and have fun. All materials are provided, so just bring your creativity and a sense of adventure!
EYE OF THE DRAGON: A SCULPTING WORKSHOP | Wed 01 Jul | 1:30pm-3:30pm
In this creative & hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics of polymer clay construction & design as they sculpt a powerful dragon eye - mysterious, ancient and brimming with personality. STOP MOTION STUDIO: ANIMATE YOUR IDEAS | Thur 02 Jul | 1:30pm-3:30pm
Join Little Picture Window for a hands-on stop motion animation workshop where participants will create their own cartoon-inspired stories and bring them to life frame by frame. Using a mix of 2D and 3D creative materials including drawing, collage, plasticine, digital artwork, construction toys and posable figures, participants will experiment with animation techniques while developing unique characters, scenes and stories, full of humour, movement and personality.
BUBBLE-BRAIN SOAP MAKING PARTY | Fri 03 Jul | 10am-12pm
Join the Science of Fun team for our new Bubble Brain Soap Party. Make your very own soapy creations to gift or use at home. In this workshop kids will learn the basics of ‘Melt & Pour’ soap making techniques, handcrafting, designing and customising their unique creations with a selection of fragrance oil, natural mica and toys.
WHIMSICAL WAX: CANDLE DECORATING WORKSHOP | Fri 03 Jul | 1:30pm-3:30pm
Hosted by the Science of Fun team, this unique adventure invites children aged 6-12 into the art of candle painting, where every step is a hands-on experiment in creativity. Transform ordinary candles into radiant masterpieces as we learn and experiment with various techniques of relief sculpture and acrylic painting.
ANGELA'S MANE ATTRACTION: HAIR STYLING FUN | Mon 06 Jul | 9:30am-11:30am
Learn how to create your favourite hairstyles from braids to bunches and more. This workshop is kid-directed so bring your ideas of looks you'd like to try and Angela, of Angela's Mane Attraction, will show you just how to do them! Sparkles, creativity, bows and more.

Join the Science of Fun team for a magical sensory play workshop filled with fantasy creatures, treasure, fairy folk and baby dragon eggs. Inspired by whimsical dragon stories, children will build their own miniature landscapes using moss, pebbles, bark, gems, crystals and sticks. They’ll create places for their creature to live, adding treasure, fairy folk and nesting spaces before sculpting their own dragon and baby dragon eggs to place into the scene.

Join the Science of Fun team for an exciting hands-on STEM workshop! Dive into the world of forces and motion as you build and race paddle boats and noodle boats, then experiment with balloon-powered cars to see how air can propel your creations. Finish with a glittery slime-making session, where you’ll mix, stretch and squish your own colourful slime to take home.

Join the Kew School of Dance for a high-energy Hip-Hop workshop where you'll learn fun dance moves to the latest hits, including popular tracks from artists like Taylor Swift! This workshop is all about having fun, building confidence and expressing yourself through movement. Kids will pick up simple, upbeat routines while improving their rhythm, coordination and creativity. Whether you're new to Hip-Hop or already know a few moves, this workshop is perfect for dancing with style and having a blast!

Get ready to shine like a K-Pop star! Join the Kew School of Dance for a high-energy workshop where young dancers will learn creative choreography inspired by the vibrant world of Korean pop dance. Get ready for a deliciously hands-on chocolate workshop with the Science of Fun team! Children will explore the world of chocolate making while experimenting with moulds, melting techniques and creative decorating ideas. Using a huge array of sprinkles, lollies, marshmallows, nuts and edible decorations, kids will create their own chocolatey treats and colourful edible creations to take home and enjoy!

Get ready for a fun and flavourful cupcake decorating adventure with the Science of Fun team! With expert guidance, you'll learn basic sculptural techniques and discover how to cut and layer sweet fondants. You'll use an array of enticing toppings like sugar sprinkles, buttercream and lollies to transform your cupcakes into delectable, edible artworks. These creations will be yours to proudly take home to share, admire and enjoy. We provide all the essential equipment, cupcakes and decorations. Let's come together and create some delicious fun!

Step into a whimsical world of wizard cats, enchanted companions and magical familiars with True Fairies! Children will meet, bond with and officially adopt their very own magical kitty familiar in this enchanting experience filled with interactive storytelling, games, dancing, imagination and hands-on fun. Along the way, little witches and wizards will discover the special role magical cats play in fantasy worlds while learning how to care for, train and communicate with their new companion through themed activities and playful magical challenges.

CRAFT & PLAY WORKSHOP AT ORIGAMI PLAY CAFE | Fri 10 Jul | 12:15pm-1:00pm
Join us at Origami Play Cafe for a calm and joyful blend of creative making and indoor play, set in a welcoming café space where kids can explore while parents relax or catch up. Each session begins with 15 minutes of guided origami, where little hands follow simple steps to create a paper piece to take home. Then enjoy 30 minutes of indoor play in the imaginative upstairs play space, featuring soft play and pretend-play zones designed for curious young explorers.
STEM BIRDS: CODING & ROBOTICS | Fri 10 Jul | 1pm-3pm
Design, build and play with robots! Let your young inventor’s creativity run wild while exploring this exciting new digital technology. Guided by the STEM Birds team, kids will dive straight into the principles of robotics design. They will also explore electrical and mechanical engineering concepts as well as automobile design and programming paradigms.
