Drop-in Activities

Visit the AlburyCity Libraries and Musuem throughout the school holidays and explore the various drop-in activities or complete the Treasure Hunt to get a prize.
Ages: All ages, children are required to be supervised by an adult.

No charge or bookings required for drop-in programs.

Dreaming Treasure Hunt - Albury LibraryMuseum
Friday 4 July – Tuesday 22 July
Come on a treasure hunt journey to learn about the Wiradjuri dreaming story from the balanda (the beginning), Tiddalik the Giant Frog.

Australian Animal Scratch Art - Albury LibraryMuseum
Monday 7 July – Friday 11 July
Use your creativity to scratch your Australian animal and turn it into a First Nations inspired artwork. Available from the Albury LibraryMuseum customer service desk. Limit of one per child.

Winter Wonderland Storytime - Lavington Library

Did you know that the gugaa (goanna) is the totem for Wiradjuri people? Celebrate and show your support for Australia’s First Nations people by decorating a handprint to help us create our giant gugaa wall art.

Your tastebuds and your dance moves are in for a treat! Silent disco vibes, delicious pizza, and a night of pure fun awaits. You bring your dancing shoes, we will provide the headsets!

Sew on a Button! - Lavington Library
Tuesday 8 July, 2.30pm – 3.30pm Ages: 8+ years. Cost $5.00
Have you ever had a button come off your school uniform or a favourite shirt?  You can fix it yourself!
Learn how to sew on buttons.  You can decorate a felt needle holder with interesting button detail.  And you will get to take home your own mending kit for any future button misadventures.

Pom Poms of Perfection - Lavington Library

Get crafty these school holidays! Join us at the Lavington Library and learn the fun and easy art of pompom making. Kids will get hands-on creating their own fluffy, colourful pompom creations to take home. A great way to unleash creativity and learn a new skill!

Create a bag that's totally YOU! Use colourful fabric markers to transform a calico bag into a unique masterpiece for you to take home.

Thursday 10 July, 10.30am – 11.30am. Ages: 8+ years. Cost $5.00
 Create a one-of-a-kind t-shirt at our tie-dying workshop. Crumple, knot and tie your shirt, add some colour and voila! A unique masterpiece for you to wear.
All materials provided. Please include your child’s t-shirt size when booking your ticket.

Learn to Code: Osmo Coding Duo - Albury LibraryMusuem
Tuesday 15 July, 10.30am – 11.30am. Ages: 7+ years. Cost $5.00
Grab a partner and learn the fundamentals of coding and build logic thinking skills through the Osmo Coding Duo program. Work as a team to direct the onscreen characters through each challenge. 

Goodnight Storytime with Teddy Bear Sleepover Party - Albury LibraryMusuem
Wednesday 16 July, 5.45pm – 6.15pm. Cost Free
Pop on your favourite pyjamas, pick out your favourite teddy and bring them along to story time with milk and cookies! You will then be invited to leave your teddy behind (don’t worry we will take extra special care with them) for a sleepover in the Albury LibraryMuseum. We will be keeping tabs on what the teddies get up to and posting on our Facebook page for you to follow along. We hope they don’t get up too much mischief!

Important Notes:

- Please be aware that children MUST be supervised by an adult for the duration of each program. Supervising adults DO NOT need to book a place for themselves, please only book for the children attending, except when booking for Family Movie Matinee - everyone attending needs a ticket at this event.

- Our programs always book out and have long waiting lists. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your tickets in Humanitix, this will allow someone on the waiting list to attend.

- We will hold your place until 10 minutes after the advertised start time, after this time places will be offered to other attendees.

- Please check the location of the program carefully, this page lists programs at both the LibraryMuseum and Lavington Library.
