Winter Solstice Gathering at YWNR
Description
We gather to celebrate the Winter Solstice at the precious wetland reserve which is host to an incredible diversity of plant species supporting rich populations of birds, the endangered growling grass frog and myriad insects.
You are invited to join us to honour this seasonal moment through
circling and sharing
wandering with wonder through the reserve
meditation and
celebrating the seasonal shifts & cycles with simple drumming and song!
We will meet at the fire pit at the Meeting Place in the reserve 3.45pm in the centre of the reserve.
Bring a frame drum if you have one- otherwise, your voice and hands!
We acknowledge the seasonal calendar of the Boonwurrung in which the "seasons were not mapped by a calendar but by the movement of the turt (stars) and the blooming of the plants."Narweet Carolyn Briggs. Some Old Europe seasonal stories will also be woven through our event.
It will be dark by the time the event finishes, so bring a torch!
