Winter Solstice Tomte Gnome Wool Crafting Workshop (daytime)
Event description
Join Tami Fuller, a second-generation fiber artisan, arts & fiber educator and exhibiting fine fiber artist and Missy Singer Dumars, owner, steward and educator of Crown Hill Farm to craft a traditional Winter Solstice Tomte Gnome.
Tomte(n) are traditional authentic Swedish Christmas gnomes, meant to bring good luck and protection during the dark evenings of winter leading to the Winter Solstice.
During this workshop, we'll create them using a combination of traditional wool doll making technique, pre-made felt yardage, needle felt technique. Learn about the heritage Swedish sheep breed, Gotland, as you use some of their locks to finish your Tomte.
You’ll construct a pair of these guardians of the light to be a part of winter traditions in your home for many winters to come!
