Event description

"On the shortest day, and the longest night.....keep your inner light shining bright." - nell regan

Winter Solstice signifies a time of transition, introspection, preservation, nourishment, self-care and hibernation.  The time of Winter is Yin.  Yin's aspects of darkness, going inwards and inactivity are at its strongest on this day.  Yin energy is cool, dark and reflective.  On this day  we begin to celebrate that the sun will shine a bit longer each day.  Yang is born within.  The seeds of yang germinate in the stillness of Yin, the possibility of new creation and rebirth.

We feel peace, stillness and hope inside of us.

Yin Yoga is a style of yoga that includes specific passive poses (called yin poses) that are held for a specific time.

Yin Yoga has the potential to calm the nervous system.  It is also believed to circulate energy in the energetic systems of the body.  It works on Yin tissues - also known as connective tissues. By stressing the connective tissue, over time the body will respond by making them longer and stronger.

Your night will include:

-gentle movement to ground the body

-breathe work

-yin yoga

-10mins sharing circle at the end

-herbal tea

Your host: Melissa Romanella

Reiki Master, Kinesiologist, Pilates Instructor, Yin Yoga Teacher and Intuitive.

With over 8 years’ experience teaching Pilates and as practitioner in Kinesiology, Reiki Master, Energy Healer, Melissa’s has deep understanding of the body and energy systems. Her approach is around the ethos of “Whole body”, working with the person as a whole and recognising how much the emotional, mental and spiritual body can influence the physical body.

Mel discovered the beauty and restorative nature of yin yoga in her own practice and introduced this to her services for a whole rounded support for her clients.

Mel applies her multi-disciplined approach to support her client’s experiencing anxiety, depression, nervous system dysregulation and pain. Her approach aids clients to reconnect back into their bodies to create more balance and harmony. Clients feel more grounded, connected, centred and more in tune with their bodies.

“Our body stores emotions and often these emotions, being "energy in motion" become stuck and stagnant in our body (meridian systems) and this may present as pain and tightness.  Our bodies tell a story.  The body has the innate wisdom to heal and to move and I hold the space for my clients to discover what they already know within them.”

Join Mel for this special event as she guides you in this restorative practice.
