WIRES Community Planting Day
Event description
Join Council’s Environment Team and WIRES for a Community Planting Day at Tahmoor Park on 28th Sept at 10am-1pm.
Council and WIRES have been planting our the park so local WIRES carers can have a safe and diverse native food collection site for wildlife in care.
At the last Working Bee Day we removed over five 100-liter bags of weeds – this time we will be planting heaps of local natives! Come and help us – you don’t need any experience, our friendly staff will guide you.
We will be planting a large diversity of species there including koala food trees, glossy black cockatoo food trees, wattles, grevilleas, bottlebrush, tea tree and grasses. We have already planted over 7000 natives at the site – this also helps the Robin Davies Wollondilly Community Nursery by having more of a one stop shop to collect seeds and cuttings for propagation to makes things easier and more efficient for Council’s Environment Team so we can then provide more to the community, landholders, wildlife carers, parks and revegetation projects around the Shire.
This is a great example of how Council partners with other community organisations to work together to benefit the wider community and environment.
We would love to see you there!!!
The only entrance for Tahmoor Park is located on Park Ave, Tahmoor.
