Wissalea & The Walnuts 'Clichés' Single Launch
Event description
Wissalea & The Walnuts are back at Can You Keep A Secret this January to launch their newest single 'Clichés'. Supported by local sweethearts Eamon Joseph and Sebya, be sure to come along to hear all the new music these 3 artists have been cooking up in our favourite venue in Brissy/Meanjin on a breezy summer afternoon.
Since launching their debut single at CYKAS almost 1 year ago and dropping their EP 'It's In The Way' in March, Wissalea has been gigging around South-East & North Queensland and at numerous festivals, such as Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, Day Trip, Tropic Fiesta & Townsville Folk Festival. The ever-evolving Walnuts join the lank-drifter-shapeshifter that is Wissalea live, blending old-school folk and modern-coastal indie, with a splash of psychedelic country rock. Wissalea’s 2nd EP is completed and will be released in early 2024.
Eamon Joseph writes sunny-sad pop songs, and his forthcoming second album ‘When You Know’ (out Jan. 12) is his sunniest, saddest and poppiest effort yet. Recorded at producer Demetry Malahoff’s idyllic Camp Mountain studio, Eamon’s newest material shows a big leap in songcraft, production and instrumentation. The release singles have received airplay on Brisbane’s 4ZZZ FM and earned positive reviews from locales as far-flung as the UK, Indonesia and Brazil. You can stream his singles ‘Looking For The Moon,’ ‘Flowers,’ ‘Everything,’ and ‘Melody’ on all platforms that pay musicians a fair rate, as well as Spotify. WYK, you know.
Sebya is a reflective and authentic musical project by Demetry Malahoff, distinguished by its introspective nature and a departure from his earlier musical style. The project's debut EP, released in 2021, represents Malahoff's evolution as an artist. It was meticulously crafted, selecting the best tracks from a prolific period of songwriting. Sebya's sound is influenced by Malahoff's experiences, including an enriching internship at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland, which contributed to the project's unique musical direction. The EP's release underscores Malahoff's commitment to authentic and meaningful music creation. Sebya stands as a testament to personal growth and artistic integrity in the contemporary music landscape.
