STEMM in Your Future - Science Workshop - Colourful Chemistry
Event description
Colourful Chemistry - Acids & Bases in Action
“STEMM in Your Future” is a hands-on workshop series designed for curious girls and gender diverse people aged 12-15 to explore science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine in fun, real-world ways. Students can attend just one session or join us for the whole series - it’s entirely up to them! Each participant will receive a special program magazine full of STEMM career tips, inspiration, and space to mark off the workshops they’ve completed along the way.
Get ready to mix, fizz, and discover in this hands-on chemistry session! Using red cabbage as a natural pH indicator, students will investigate the fascinating world of acids and bases. Through colourful reactions and safe, kitchen-friendly experiments, they’ll test common substances, observe surprising changes, and learn how chemistry connects to everyday life. This workshop is perfect for budding scientists who love to experiment and want to better understand the world around them.
Presented in partnership with the Women in STEM Society (WISTEMS) University of Adelaide.
