with love and literature
Event description
L E T T E R S T O A N O L D F R I E N D
November is coming in hot and 'with love and literature' is wrapping up for the year with a beautiful last workshop on the reflections of the past. Lately, I have been deep in nostalgia, processing the emotions and seasons of the past that once defined me, but now no longer seem relevant. As the year draws to an end, and timelines oscillate into and out of existence, I am reminded of the freedom that comes from unshackling ourselves from what no longer serves our path. The shedding of old lives like old skin. And 2025 was the year of the snake, after all.
Join me for an intimate night journaling on the past, lingering on memories long forgotten and saying goodbye to older versions of ourselves. It is through revisiting the past that we can move towards meeting the versions of ourselves we have not yet become. This timeline pilgrimage is an invitation to shed the stories we have held onto, to honour the ones that have shaped us and to let some stories go in order to write a new one.
We will create an individual time capsule filled with reflections, dreams and hopes for our future. We will take a wander down memory lane and journey the many iterations of our past selves. We will dive into philosophy around the processing of time, and hear from voices like Joan Didion, Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson, known for their intimate memoirs and deeply self-reflective letters. As we enter into dialogue with ourselves and the world of nostalgia, we will craft a gorgeous letter to ourselves to read at a future point in our lives.
The evening will begin with some delicious homemade chai tea to initiate us into a state of reflection, connection to our third eye and the minds inner realms. I will be sharing some beautiful pieces of poetry with you all both of my own or other poets and initiate you into the space.
We will then explore some vulnerability exercises to get you connected both in heart and body before we dive in to key writing exercises and the creative process as a whole including tips and tricks for letting your creative juices flow!
We will spend the second part of the workshop working on one particular piece, expanding on concepts of form, texture and literary devices that will both up skill your writing as well as leave you with some tools on craft and creativity to bring your unique flavour through.
The night will conclude with an open floor for anyone feeling called to share their writing OR a piece of writing they have resonated with (aka written by someone else). Please do not feel pressured to share, as witnessing and holding space are just as valid participation in this event.
Lastly, a disclaimer that my poetry workshops do often ask participants to explore themselves, their depths or their edges. Drawing on my Bachelors degree in Psychology, this workshop is designed to help you delve deeper into your thoughts, emotions, and experiences through writing, with evidence-based techniques used to enhance creativity and foster personal growth. My workshops ensure a supportive and thoughtful environment for exploring sensitive topics.
