    Event description

    Witness Matlou is a pianist, composer, arranger, performer, and educator. He is a professor of Harmony and Piano at Berklee College of Music, where he also earned his bachelor's degree and his master's degree, studying under the direction of Danilo Pérez, Terri Lyne Carrington, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, Yoron Israel and George Garzone.

    Matlou's compositions and arrangements bring jazz piano into conversation with traditional music of his native South Africa, folk, gospel, soul,and classical music. He has performed at the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the DC Jazz Festival, the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, and the North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands).

    The Witness Matlou Trio also features John Lockwood (South Africa) on bass and Lee Fish (USA) on drums.
