WiTWA Tech [+] Awards 2026 | Write & Shine Workshop

The WiTWA Tech [+] Awards recognise the people shaping a more inclusive, diverse, and future-ready tech sector in WA. If you are considering a nomination or supporting someone else to be recognised, this workshop will help you take the next step with more clarity and confidence.

We know writing an award nomination can feel uncomfortable. It can be hard to talk about your achievements, choose the right category, or turn meaningful work into a clear and compelling submission. Write & Shine is designed to help you move through that process with practical guidance and a stronger sense of what your story is worth.

This session will feature guest facilitators and past winners who will share their experience, learnings, and advice to help you:

Cover the basics: get familiar with the Tech [+] Awards categories, eligibility criteria, nomination process, and key dates.
Find your hook: identify the story behind your work, your leadership, your advocacy, your innovation, or your impact.
Build confidence: move past the discomfort of self-promotion and recognise the value of what you have contributed.
Improve your writing: learn how to structure your submission, make your responses more concise, and remove the gobbledygook.
Meet the deadline: organise your thoughts, plan your time, and prepare a polished nomination before submissions close

WiTWA is a Perth-based, not for profit organisation providing a framework for women in tech [+] to extend their networks and expand their knowledge on a broad range of professional topics. We encourage open conversation and inspire deliberation and debate. WiTWA wants to see more women in tech [+] roles and organisations in WA, and to progress those already in these careers as we achieve greater parity and equality. This is how we help make it happen: Encouraging young people to study STEM subjects through our Techtrails program, showing Year 9 and 10 students the diverse and varied jobs for all genders in tech [+] careers. We want to retain the women already in tech [+] careers. We do this by helping them connect with fellow supporters and providing networking and development opportunities through our suite of events: TechXChanges, Boardroom Series and our newly minted one-day conference, WiTWA [+]. Our supporters span across gender, industry and age and are committed to introducing women and young people to exciting and meaningful careers in tech, science and innovation. We want to champion tech [+] as viable, future focused and stimulating professions for young people to consider; and we want to support them in that pursuit – all while raising the status of women in Australian business and in all tech [+] industries.
