Event description

Celebrate and connect with other women of colour across Melbourne in a safe and uplifting space with conversations around the theme “Culture as Power: Amplifying our representation & voice in public discourse”. As always, our gathering will be led by and for women of colour, with community, solidarity, and joy at its heart.

Expect a morning of rich conversations and connection, followed by an opportunity to choose 2 interactive breakout sessions for the afternoon.

Morning Sessions

  • Samantha Ratnam - Culture is our power. Why this moment needs all of us to use it (keynote)

  • Dr Kim Gordon - Multiracial identity and belonging: Embracing complexity and challenging racism through feminist intersectionality


Afternoon Sessions (you will be asked to register for x2 afternoon sessions closer to the day)

  • Countering internalised oppression to strengthen your voice (Anita Gupta)

  • You, yes, you are the instrument! A voice and body tune-up (Yuanlei (Nikki) Zhao)

  • Diversify your bookshelf: Un-book Club with Amplify Bookstore (Marina Sano, Amplify Bookstore)

  • Visibility and voice as tools to shift power structures (Dr Ruwangi Fernando)

  • Rhythm & Resilience: Understanding the Menstrual Cycle for Women of Colour (Shantini Lyngkaran and Feriyal)

  • Friendship Rituals: An act of radical care & joy (Bimba Chavan)

  • Unmasking the imposter, Unleashing the leader (Cr Susan Yengi)

  • Shaping What We Need: Supports for Women of Colour (WOCM sponsored by Vic Gov)

Lunch time session

  • Financial Literacy for Women (presented by Commonwealth Bank Australia)

Event Details

When: Saturday 11 October 2025, 9.30am - 5.30pm (kick off at 10am)

Where: RMIT, 435 - 457 Swanston Street, Melbourne CBD (Click here for a Google Map)

Price: $40 (+booking fee)

Your ticket includes lunch for the day. We will have both a quiet room and a prayer room available on site. Please be aware that photography and filming will take place at this event.
