WollCon Celebrates International Jazz Day
Event description
Celebrate International Jazz Day with the feel-good harmonies of WollCon’s Hummingbirds, and jazz songstress Trish Delaney-Brown!
With a swag of awards to her name, Trish Delaney-Brown continues to be a creative force in the Australian jazz scene.  A 'musicians singer', Trish has tackled everything from music theatre, opera and cabaret to jazz ensembles, big bands and a cappella - but jazz is her home. There, in her own arrangements and compositions, her unique and uplifting presence and voice find their highest expression. Â
Joined by 3 of the nation's premier musicians: Jeremy Sawkins (guitar), Hugh Fraser (bass) and Nic Cecire (drums), Trish will present a set of her favourite standards, celebrating improvised and original jazz music.Â
Ably supporting her is WollCon’s vocal jazz ensemble, The Hummingbirds - a rich blend of diverse voices creating harmonies reminiscent of the classic female ensembles of the 30’s and ‘40s. Their uplifting, lively, swinging, feel good sound will have you tapping your toes and humming along.
The Hummingbirds are:
Anita Grassy |  Alison Windsor | Sara Grayndler |  Niambh Begley |  Jenna Hogan |  Sue Ashbolt |  Rhiannon Bannenberg |  Ella Fakes |  Stephanie Bannenberg |  Katrina Love-Evans.
