Family Fun Day

Family-friendly event with information on the energy transition, different renewable options for both your home and the wider energy grid and industry transition, and free ice cream for kids! 

We know that there is a large amount of support for climate action now in the Illawarra and we want to help spread the word and encourage governments to take action on the climate and ensure we reach net zero by 2030.

Everyone is welcome, everyone is needed to spread the word on climate action.

Event day features:

• Dan Ilic - comedian, journalist and filmmaker - will be our Master of Ceremonies
• Gelato Man will be scooping handcrafted gelato and sorbet for the kids
• Free face painting with Raeleen’s Fancy Faces - renewable energy and nature-inspired designs available
• The Electrify 2515 team will be making EV-powered smoothies
• Electric bike-powered shaved ice and watermelon to keep folks cool
• Saul Griffiths from Rewiring Australia speaking on why we need renewable energy now
• We will hear from locals passionate about the transition to renewable energy, like Darryl Best, former coal worker
• Learn more from local renewable energy organisations like SunPeople, Good for the Gong and Electrify 2515
• Connect with folks from Friends of the Earth, Australian Conservation Foundation, Tomorrow Movement and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition
• Green Gravity will be showcasing their local innovative renewable tech
• Get a free bike tune-up at the Open Bike Workshop with UOW Cycling Club
• Renewable-energy inspired sustainable craft activities with Imogen of Go Create Art
• Bespoke local colouring-in sheets and ice cream crafts with Liv Lorkin
• Nature banner-decorating with the Australian Conservation Foundation
• Bike parking available in Osborne Park
• Lawn games including ring toss and Finska

This event will be held by Friends of the Earth's Yes2Renewables campaign, in alliance with the Australian Conservation Foundation, Electrify 2515, Hi Neighbour, Sail 4 Sanity, Good for the Gong, Rewiring Australia and other local organisations and businesses.
