Singles Night | Ages 30-45 | February

Welcome to Wollongong Singles! Curated events run by Illawarra locals to bring people together through facilitated events in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Our skilled facilitators will guide the evening where you're invited to mingle and engage as much as you're comfortable. This event is an opportunity to connect with other single people, make new friends, and maybe even find a potential romantic connection.

A Wollongong Singles event is better than speed dating, and is offered in the heart of the Gong! Don't miss out on this chance to expand your social circle and maybe even find a special connection.

What To Expect

Please arrive between 5.45pm and 6pm so that we can begin on time at 6.10pm, and have as many rounds during the night as possible so that everyone can meet each other before the event is over.

You’ll be seated with 1-2 people of the same gender, and 2-3 people of the opposite gender. For the first few rounds, you’ll use conversation cards to ask and answer questions. After 15min, one gender will get up and move and you'll have another 15min to meet a new group of people. 

After a few rounds, we’ll introduce games to play - like UNO and Jenga - that further the conversation and fun. As we won’t have enough time to meet everyone in the room, for the final few rounds you’ll be invited to move to any table of your choosing.

There will be a break halfway through the night to grab food or drinks, and we’ll finish the night with time to mingle before the bar closes so that you have a chance to talk to people you’d like to get to know better or approach people you didn't get the chance to meet during the rounds.

We have pens and paper available as we encourage people to swap numbers on the night, and you can ask a Wollongong Singles team member to help deliver messages if you’re feeling shy.

Once the night wraps up, you’re welcome to stay and continue the conversation until the bar closes at 10pm, or kick onto Howlin' Wolf for a discounted drink.

On Arrival

Please arrive between 5.45pm and 6pm so that you can grab a seat and a drink in time for us to begin promptly at 6.10pm. This is a seated event with even numbers of men and women, so please arrive on time to help us avoid the chaos of finding seats for late arrivals.

Your ticket includes a drink on arrival - beer, wine, or non alcoholic options. There is also the option to purchase a VIP Drinks Package and get two $15 cocktails for just $20. The bar will also be serving happy hour cocktails til 7pm and snack foods to purchase throughout the evening.

Age Group

This night is aimed at people aged between 30 and 45 years old. 1. The purpose of this event is to have fun! We encourage you to leave expectations of meeting your forever person at the door and instead focus on enjoying yourself and connecting with new people.
2. You're invited to step outside your comfort zone, but you will not be pressured to participate in the entire evening. 
3. This is not speed dating - it's better than speed dating! Come ready to answer questions and be curious.
4. Not everyone is going to be heterosexual and monogamous. We're welcoming of people who identify beyond the binary, people with diverse sexual orientations and relationship styles, so come with an open mind.
5. And of course, be kind and respectful to everyone you meet!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a speed dating event?

It’s better than speed dating! There will be 4-5 people at each table and you’ll have 15 minutes to play a game, or answer a set of conversation cards. There will be 7-10 rounds over the evening, so you’ll meet many people, but probably not everyone. There is time at the end of the night to mingle across the room.

What should I expect at the event?

Expect a warm welcome, a relaxed atmosphere, and a series of facilitated activities, card and board games designed to help you connect with others.

Is there a dress code?

No strict dress code – just come as you are and feel comfortable. Feel free to dress as you might for a first date!

What if I'm shy or nervous?

Our hosts are experienced in creating a supportive environment, and our activities are designed to make everyone feel comfortable. You'll be in good hands! If you need to take a break at any time or leave early, you're welcome to do so.

Where do you run these events?

All our events are run in Wollongong and the surrounding region.

What does it mean if the event page is sold out and telling me to join a waitlist?

We take care to ensure that our events don't have loads of men and hardly any women, or vice versa, and so we release tickets in short bursts to keep the numbers even. If tickets for your gender are sold out, simply join the waitlist and you'll get an email when the other gender's tickets have caught up and we can release more. If you don't get an email before the event, join us at the next one!
