Join author, veteran and advocate Julia Delaforce for the official launch of her memoir, Treatment of a Woman in the Military.

This special event brings together veterans, serving and former Defence personnel, parliamentarians, academics, advocates, media, family, friends and members of the public for the launch of a memoir exploring resilience, service, institutional accountability and the power of finding your voice.

Guests will enjoy an evening featuring Julia Delaforce in conversation, guest speakers, book signings and light refreshments. Signed copies of the book will be available on the night.

For more than 15 years, Julia was prevented from publicly sharing key parts of her story by a Defence non-disclosure agreement. In 2025, following a landmark legal outcome supported by the Human Rights Law Centre's Whistleblower Project, she was released from those obligations, enabling her to tell her story publicly for the first time in the national media including 60 Minutes.

Treatment of a Woman in the Military traces Julia's journey from serving in the Royal Australian Air Force to becoming a nationally recognised advocate for NDA legislative reform. The memoir examines military service, courage, institutional accountability and the pursuit of justice, contributing to Australia's national conversation on military sexual violence, whistleblower protections and the misuse of non-disclosure agreements.
