Any prospective wombat carers need to complete a wombat carer course for licensing purposes, and to be a good carer for the wombats entrusted to you.

This is a beginner course and will give you a good overview of:

Basic wombat rescues
Equipment for rescues
Assessment of rescued wombat
Equipment/infrastructure needed as carer
Feeding a wombat
General care, housing and husbandry
Diseases / illnesses wombats may suffer (including mange) from and
General problems

This training workshop is jointly offered by NARG (Native Animal Rescue Group) and Wombat Rescue and presented by Bill and Les Waterhouse

To be a carer in NSW and ACT, you need to be affiliated or a member of a licensed wildlife group in your area. This course is aimed at anyone in any state who needs wombat training to join a shelter or wildlife group and would like to become a carer.
