Event description

Overview

Any prospective wombat carers need to complete a wombat carer course for licensing purposes, and to be a good carer for the wombats entrusted to you.

But once you start gaining experience, you might want to start caring for the very little ones, pinkies (unfurred marsupials).

This is a more advanced course than the Wombat Care course for beginners and it's recommended that you do both. The pinkie course will cover:

  • What equipment you will need to raise a pinkie
  • How to do a pinkie rescue
  • Assessment of a pinkie after rescue
  • Equipment/infrastructure needed as carer
  • Feeding a pinkie
  • What pinkies need from you to thrive
  • General care, housing and husbandry and hygiene
  • Diseases / illnesses pinkies may suffer from and
  • General problems

This training workshop is jointly offered by NARG (Native Animal Rescue Group) and Wombat Rescue and presented by Bill and Les Waterhouse

To be a carer in NSW and ACT, you need to be affiliated or a member of a licensed wildlife group in your area. This course is aimed at anyone in any state who needs wombat pinkie training to progress their journey as carer.
