Event description

We're excited about this one! Kate Louise Elliott, General Manager / Artisitc Director of Centrepoint Theatre is joining us as our guest speaker at our event on Tuesday 25th June 2024

Given that Centrepoint is celebrating it's 50 year anniversary this year - Kate Louise plans to talk about the history of the theatre, and everything that goes into what she calls "programming to stay open!"

Kate Louise (Rongowhakaata) is a graduate of Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School (Bachelor of Performing Arts).

She's spent most of her professional life here in the only surviving professional theatre in regional New Zealand, Palmerston North's Centrepoint Theatre, having begun here as an actor straight out of Drama school in 1998.

An accomplished theatre actor and director, Kate Louise has spent the last fifteen years in various arts management roles, including working as the Artistic Director of Centrepoint Theatre from 2009 – 2012, the Production Manager for Arts and Culture for Auckland Council and as the General Manager of Cuba Dupa and NZ Fringe Festival. She is the current General Manager and Artistic Director at Centrepoint Theatre, where she has directed, managed and acted in more than 30 stage productions.

Her television credits as an actor include Shortland Street in which she played twins and Outrageous Fortune, however she is most known for her gastronomic delight “saveloy pie” – and as Kate Louise says - "don’t knock it until you’ve tried it people."
