Women in Conservation 2023

Event description

Join us on March 9 as we celebrate all the women who are contributing to conservation in Tasmania. With drinks, canapes, inspirational speakers, and a chance to catch up with everyone you haven't seen since last year's event, this promises to be a great evening out.

Speakers:

  • Pollination Foundation's Co-CEO Jane Hutchinson attended the United Nation's Biodiversity Conference (COP15) in 2022. She'll give us an insight into the machinations of international conservation negotiations, and talk about the commitments that were made to protect biodiversity.
  • Tasmanian artist Lucienne Rickard has been working her fingers to the bone with her durational project at TMAG, Extinction Studies, drawing detailed, oversized pictures of extinct species then publicly erasing them. The project has given Lucienne an incredible insight into community attitudes to extinction, and she will share what she's learned and discuss the role of art in conservation.

We will also be treated to music from Olivia Wilson as we enjoy nibbles, drinks and energetic conversation.

Everyone is welcome to join us, whatever your gender. We're looking forward to seeing you there!

- Jane Hutchinson (Pollination Foundation), Jessie Bodor (Tasmanian Land Conservancy), Margie Jenkin (Australian Environmental Grantmakers Network) and Josie Kelman & Eve Lazarus (Enviro-dynamics).
