Lorraine Mapu - Managing Director - Business, ANZ

Lorraine is responsible for ANZ’s business customers across New Zealand, supporting customers in every community and sector, through the spectrum of privately-owned businesses in New Zealand.

Recent roles at ANZ include General Manager – Business, where she lead the team of relationship bankers that support our business customers across New Zealand, and Commercial & Agri General Manager for Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

Having been with ANZ for many years, Lorraine has gained strong leadership experience running large teams and has vast experience over all aspects of banking.

Growing up on a dairy farm in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and having run her own business, with a team of engineers maintaining Geothermal sites across the BOP, provided Lorraine with valuable insights and knowledge into the thinking of farmers and business owners. With this background and her passion, Lorraine is happiest where she can display strategic capability and accountability for delivering outcomes and results.

“One thing that has always stuck with me as a leader is ensuring you have the ability to help guide others without force, to enable them to make decisions that leave them feeling empowered and accomplished.

My female role model has always been my nana, who lived to be 98 and always said ‘be true to yourself, be whatever you want to be, but always take time out to smell the flowers’.

Best piece of advice I have received along the way is not to sweat the small stuff and don’t worry about what you can’t change and focus on what you can”.

Faylene Tauni - Mayor of Kawerau

Faylene Tunui is the first Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Tangata Whenua Mayor of Kawerau. Elected to Council in 2013, she served 3 years as Councillor followed by 6 years as Councillor-Deputy Mayor and continues to serve the Kawerau Community as Kahika-Mayor.

The foundations of her career come from the Marae where she learned to serve and contribute for the collective benefit of all.

With a background in accounts, administration and customer service, Faylene has held governance roles for her Iwi and in education and has held operational roles with government agencies and whanau ora, all while raising her family with her Ngāti Awa husband and four tamariki.

The self-proclaimed Head of the Complaints Department of Council, specialising in conflict resolution, Faylene is passionate about exploring local opportunities and finding local solutions to address local challenges – from home, for home.
