Women in Media WA End-of-Year Sundowner with Dee Salmin
About the event
Join Women in Media WA for our much-loved End-of-Year Sundowner! An evening of good conversation, new connections and a chance to celebrate another year with our wonderful community across the industry.
We're excited to welcome special guest, writer and award-winning broadcaster, Dee Salmin - best known for hosting The Hook Up, triple j’s podcast about love, sex, dating and relationships. After years of talking to people about their love lives, she’s finally opening up about her own. It’s Not Love, Actually is her debut book – part memoir, part manifesto. It’s an unfiltered, feminist guide to raising your standards in a world that keeps telling women to settle.
Originally from WA, Dee lives in Melbourne and can usually be found in an op shop looking for gems, whilst simultaneously voice-noting her friends and telling them to decentre men.
On the night we'll hear about Dee's career journey, the experiences that have shaped her, navigating the media industry and finding the confidence to carve out your own path. Expect an engaging conversation, a few laughs and plenty of insights along the way!
Whether you're an established media professional, just starting out or simply keen to meet others in the industry, this is a great opportunity to make new connections, catch up with familiar faces and celebrate the women making things happen across WA media.
Come along with a colleague or fly solo - everyone's welcome. Professionals and creatives from all corners of the industry attend our events - spanning across journalism, broadcasting, communications, marketing, film, television, digital media and beyond.
