This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Knowing how to start in the music industry can be extremely confusing, there’s so many parts to the puzzle, and figuring them all out could take a lifetime. Don’t be put off! This workshop aims to give young women who are wanting to start a career as a musician a leg up as well as a chance for female musicians to network and connect with each other. You will be provided with insights that will help you accelerate and add value to your music industry journey.

Come and learn from some amazing women who are committed to their journeys in music and who are choosing and actively directing the career they want to have.

Sophie Edwards, Lucy Sugarman & Emma Morris will lead a panel discussion with their tips and helpful tricks on getting a kickstart in the music industry. This will be followed by a Q&A and some time for networking.

Sophie and Lucy are contemporaries, collaborators and friends who are constantly working, writing, recording and performing as members of Canberra’s dynamic contemporary music scene. Yet they have chosen different paths and have enjoyed great recognition and success, including reaching the heights of reality music TV and academia at the ANU.

A poet and singer-songwriter from an early age, MissM never chose to write but had to. Within her continuing journey as 'MissM' she has succeeded, failed, grown up and realised many things whilst sharing from the core of her soul.  Releasing her debut single, Live Brave, as an independent solo artist in 2020 has been a major highlight of her music career.
